We are now beginning our third winter here in Minnesota and still learning a few neccessities of survival (Who in their right mind would have been the first person to say, "Hey, I think I'll stay the winter here!"). We thought we would share our new insights:
1. Why is it that people begin hanging Christmas lights in October? Is it because they are so excited about Christmas? NO. You will freeze and die if you hang them any later.
2. Bring your own slippers when visiting someone else's home for a stay longer than a few minutes. A weird but convenient custom.
3. Never wash your car then forget to dry the doors during the winter. You will either be frozen in or out of your vehicle. Everyone else will laugh watching you try to open the doors.
4. Be sure to not leave gas in your snowblower during the Summer. It will clog and fail to dig you out of your home.
5. Don't leave soda (pop) cans in the garage. They will explode.
6. If your freezer is full, you can always put stuff outside.
7. Snowblow your driveway AFTER the snowplows do your street.
8. If you leave groceries in your car while you shop too long, they will freeze. Good for frozen foods, bad for milk and veggies.
9. Kids have more fun playing outside in the winter than in the summer. It is more dangerous however as they try new tricks on the ice and build ramps for sleds and snowboards. They also cry alot when they come inside and begin to thaw out.
10. Buy your children more than one pair of gloves. They will lose them. And make sure they go to the bathroom before they get dressed to go outside.
Have a very Merry Christmas as you celebrate the greatest event in history - the coming of God's Son.
